We check storage arrangement against the design assumptions during inspection rather than confining the visit to hardware. Where a tenant’s storage profile has changed, we identify whether the existing NFPA 13 design still covers what is actually on the floor, and we say so in writing when it does not. That is a more useful finding than a list of heads in acceptable condition.
The variable that moves without anyone reporting it is clearance between the sprinkler heads and the top of what is stored beneath them. Adding a level of racking or simply stacking higher during a busy period narrows that gap until the system can no longer perform as it was listed to. We measure what actually exists rather than accepting the racking’s nominal height, and we record the arrangement so there is something to compare against after the next reorganisation.
